Same product, different name, different score
There’s something I’ve been watching for a long time without finding the right place to write it down.
In the same product community, you’ll regularly see two small tools with nearly identical features. One launches and sinks without a trace; the other gets shared repeatedly and draws serious questions. Look at both product pages: similar craftsmanship, similar pricing, landing pages built from the same template, even. The real difference sits in the small line under the maker’s name — “maintainer of such-and-such project,” “has written about xx for three years.”
We habitually call this the “halo effect,” file it under cognitive bias, and move on.
But I want to argue the exact opposite: in an era where the cost of building approaches zero, this isn’t a bias. It’s the most rational move available.
The reasoning is simple. When building something was still hard, “I built it” was itself the proof — it simultaneously demonstrated technical skill, invested time, and the stamina to finish. The product was the résumé. But when a working prototype takes one afternoon, “I built it” stops proving anything. It could come from someone who’s been thinking about the problem for three years, or from someone who saw a tweet yesterday and had an agent generate it today. The product itself no longer carries information about its author.
Once the information disappears from the product, people have to look elsewhere. So they look at the author.
This is the real-world version of that line from the series overview : “He built this” — when that sentence alone can change how people judge a product, you own a first-layer asset.
This is the final essay in the series. In the earlier pieces, the production layer argued for stopping at good-enough gear, the judgment layer argued that once execution is free all the cost moves into choosing, and the previous essay argued that an audience is the only capacity still compounding. What this essay covers is slower, dumber, and less like “gear” than the other three layers — but it’s the only layer that AI, no matter how strong it gets, will never backfill for another person.
And once it’s written, I still owe this series one final answer: how the four layers connect into a system.
Time cannot be compressed, so trust cannot be compressed
Let me nail the conclusion down first:
You can use AI to produce a hundred articles in a day, but you cannot use AI to make a hundred people trust you in a day.
In the overview this line was a throwaway landing point. Now I want to take it apart, because it isn’t rhetoric — it’s a judgment with strict structure.
By the overview’s single yardstick — does progress in this layer’s gear help only me, or does it help all my competitors at the same time — the production layer was ruled a ticket to entry and the distribution layer an asset. So what makes the reputation layer the hardest of the four?
Because it carries one more constraint than distribution does.
Building an audience is slow, but it can at least be stacked up by one-way output: you publish, people watch, people subscribe. The process takes time, but the main variable stays in your hands. Reputation doesn’t work that way. Reputation forms when another person, on their own time, observes you repeatedly and revises their expectations of you.
There are two things in there that AI cannot touch at all.
First, verification has to span points in time. Whether someone is trustworthy cannot be read off any single interaction. However good your writing is today, it only proves you wrote well today. Trust, at its core, is “predicting future behavior from past behavior” — and for that inference to hold, there has to be a long enough stretch of past. That stretch cannot be generated in parallel. It has to actually pass, one day at a time.
Second, it happens inside other people’s heads. You control only the input, never the update. For a hundred people to form an impression of you, a hundred people each have to spend their own time noticing you and each be convinced by something you did. Diffusion can accelerate the process, but nothing can compress it to zero.
Put those two together and you see why this layer is special. The bottleneck in the other three layers sits on your side, so better tools keep pushing it back. The reputation layer’s bottleneck sits in time and in other people — and neither accepts any tool.
I know the objection coming: aren’t there armies of botted accounts, purchased followers, AI-operated personas?
There are. But what they counterfeit is the distribution layer, not the reputation layer. Bought followers get your content in front of more eyes, but they can’t buy “when this person speaks, I believe him.” The two look nearly identical on a dashboard (both show up as numbers going up) and differ by an order of magnitude in the real world — the former decides how many people see you, the latter decides how many of those people act on what you say. And the latter has never appeared on any dashboard.
Reputation grows on three things
“Reputation” as a word is too vague to act on, so it needs to be broken into three concrete carriers. They are not synonyms — their verification mechanisms are completely different, and that difference is the whole point.

What makes this class special — it comes with third-party verification built in.
You say you know Kubernetes: that’s a claim. The patch you landed in some project, the technical debates you fought back and forth in an issue thread, how many downstream projects import the module you maintain — that’s a record. The difference between a record and a claim isn’t credibility. It’s verification cost. To believe a claim, people first have to believe you as a person. To believe a record, they just have to click the link.
That gap has been amplified in the AI era, because the production cost of claims has hit zero. What is a bio like “senior cloud-native expert, led governance of multiple large-scale clusters” worth now? Zero. Anyone can generate ten of them in three seconds, each phrased more elegantly than yours. So this genre of text is depreciating fast toward the point where no one reads it.
Records don’t depreciate that way. Because the cost of a record hasn’t dropped — you still need to actually submit that PR, actually pass review, actually get merged, actually run in someone else’s CI. AI lowered the cost of writing code, but it didn’t lower the cost of getting other people to accept your code. The latter is social, not technical.
Let me bring in an example from late 2025 that shows the scale of what “public record” now means.
On December 9, 2025, Anthropic donated MCP, OpenAI donated AGENTS.md, and Block donated goose — all to the Linux Foundation’s newly formed Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). The platinum member roster of that foundation seats AWS, Anthropic, Block, Bloomberg, Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI at the same table. As of December 2025, MCP’s official count was over 10,000 published servers; AGENTS.md’s adoption stood at over 60,000 open-source projects.
What interests me isn’t the corporate strategy. It’s the structure underneath: when a protocol is adopted by tens of thousands of projects, who participated in it is publicly queryable.
Not “he says he was involved” — anyone can dig up that commit, that discussion thread, that closed issue. The record needs no retelling from you. It doesn’t expire when you change jobs, doesn’t vanish because you went three years without posting, and doesn’t zero out when some platform folds (it’s scattered across mirrors and countless forks at minimum).
After several years of my own grinding in cloud-native and open source, the deepest takeaway wasn’t “how many stars I gained” — that number has a terrible signal-to-noise ratio. The genuinely useful thing has always been something else: when you’re talking business with a stranger, they can look you up themselves, without you having to explain yourself. That state of “no introduction needed” is the real return of this layer.
That’s also why I think open-source contribution is the most underrated of all reputation carriers. It isn’t pretty, isn’t instant, earns no likes when you ship it — but it’s the only asset form where other people store it for you, and other people vouch for you.
Consistent public output: predictability is itself credibility
The second carrier is softer but covers more ground: long-run, sustained, steady-voiced public output.
The most commonly misunderstood point here — people don’t trust how good any single article is.
Single-piece quality determines spread, not trust. What determines trust is variance. Someone writes fifty pieces, each under the same standard of judgment, and you can predict what he’ll say about the fifty-first thing. That predictability is itself credibility, because the definition of trust is “I dare to base my decisions on my prediction of you.”
Conversely, someone whose every piece is brilliant but whose positions drift with the trending topic is fun to read — but nobody stakes an important decision on him. What he accumulates is attention, not trust. Those two things are the same thing in the second layer and two different things in the first.
Which yields a very counterintuitive operating rule: in this layer, steady beats brilliant.
Consistency has one harder side effect: it makes your mistakes credible. When someone with a long, stable voice says “my last piece got it wrong,” the sentence carries enormous information, because it’s consistent with his history (he really has been taking judgment seriously all along). When someone with a drifting voice says the same thing, nobody cares. The right to admit error has to be earned through long-run consistency.
AI’s position in this layer is delicate. It genuinely boosts output speed, but it introduces a hidden risk: when the marginal cost of writing goes to zero, output frequency and output consistency decouple. You can post three times a day, but if no stable judgment is driving them, their contribution to the first layer is zero — or negative, because they dilute your predictability.
My take: the only metric worth optimizing in this layer isn’t “how much I published.” It’s “can someone who has read ten of my pieces correctly guess where I’ll stand in the eleventh.”
Real human relationships: the only layer that cannot be mediated at all
The third carrier is the hardest to write about, because it’s the least like “gear.”
I don’t mean what “networking” usually implies — not how many contacts you’ve added or events you’ve attended. I mean relationships built on having been through specific things together: handled a production incident side by side, took a project from nobody-uses-it to somebody-does, argued hard over a technical design and each gave ground.
What makes this layer special: it’s the only one where AI can’t even play middleman.
In the first two layers AI can at least participate — it helps you write code, write essays, organize arguments. But it cannot build, on your behalf, the kind of knowledge that is “I know what you’re like under pressure.” That knowledge only grows out of consequences carried together.
On why human presence is irreplaceable, Dan Shipper wrote about an experience in May 2026 that stuck with me. Every initially gave each employee their own agent, then walked it back — agents now belong to teams and the company, maintained by dedicated AI engineers. The reason: personal agents “rot quickly.” His argument, roughly: for an agent to be useful, it needs a person who genuinely cares about it; the farther an agent sits from the person responsible for keeping it working well, the worse it works. And incidentally, this company that automated so much has a team of nearly 30 people — the podcast episode’s title was, bluntly, “We automated everything with AI, then tripled our headcount.”
I think the meaning of that story goes far beyond agent ops. It’s saying something more general: automation doesn’t eliminate the need for someone to care; it makes “someone cares” more valuable. A system, a project, a relationship — the moment no specific person is responsible for its long-term state, it rots. And “who cares about this” is a question AI currently cannot answer — it can execute, but it doesn’t feel bad when the outcome is bad.
Human relationships are the extreme form of this principle. When people trust you, they are fundamentally betting that “if things go wrong, you’ll feel it, so you’ll try hard.” That premise does not hold for a model.
Why it will never appear on any list
Now for the question this series planted at the very beginning.
Every “AI-era super individual gear list” I have ever read — every single one — omits the reputation layer. They list models, coding tools, automation platforms, knowledge bases; the fancier ones add a “personal brand” column — but open it up and it’s publishing tools, formatting tools, analytics dashboards. Still second-layer stuff.
This isn’t editorial oversight. It’s a structural limitation of the list as a genre.
A list’s function is to tell you what to buy, install, subscribe to — so anything that makes it in must be purchasable, installable, instantly obtainable. Reputation is none of the three. It simply has no slot in the format — you cannot add “five years of consistency” to a shopping cart.
I want to push this observation to a harsher place, because it’s actually the other thread running through this entire series:
Anything a list can enumerate is already no longer scarce.
The sentence can be derived. If something can be written into a list, it’s purchasable; purchasable means replicable; replicable means supply expands with demand; and anything whose supply can expand cannot stay scarce for long. The act of making the list is itself the signal that the scarcity is disappearing.
So the most valuable part of any list is precisely the part it failed to include. And the reason the reputation layer gets left out is the same reason it’s still scarce — it can’t be bought, so it can’t be listed; it can’t be listed, so nobody grinds it; nobody grinds it, so it’s still worth something.
Our industry loves measurable things so much that it has systematically allocated its attention to every asset that is depreciating.
Signing your name is getting costlier — and more valuable
AI has introduced a genuinely new variable to the reputation layer, one I think remains under-discussed: the cost and the value of attribution are rising at the same time.
Value first.
When text, code, images, and video can all be generated in bulk, the author information carried by the content itself gets diluted. In front of you sit a hundred articles on the same topic, all above the quality bar, all fluently worded, all cleanly structured. How do you choose?
You look at who wrote them. Not because you’re superstitious about authors — because when content is indistinguishable, the author is the only field still carrying information.
At bottom it’s supply and demand: content supply exploded, author supply didn’t — real, traceable people with histories are still exactly as numerous as before.
Now the cost, which is the half that matters.
What does signing your real name mean? It means you carry the consequences of the signature. You get something wrong, the record follows you. Your product breaks, people remember it was yours. Something you said gets dug up three years later, and you have to own it.
There’s a case from March 2025 that I think of every time the cost of building in public comes up. A product called EnrichLead — its maker, Leo Acevedo, publicly declared it was built entirely by Cursor, “zero hand-written code.” After the post went viral, the app was under attack within roughly two days — subscriptions bypassed, data tampered with, API keys maxed out — and offline within a week.
I have no interest in using this to mock anyone. The opposite: I think being willing to say that in public took courage, and the price he paid was real and proportional to that courage. What interests me is the mechanism it exposes:
Building in public doesn’t just amplify success. It amplifies failure the same way. And that is exactly why attribution has value.
Here’s a corollary I consider important. What prices trust has never been “what you said” — it’s “what you staked on what you said.” An anonymous account can be dead right and still have no stake; when it’s wrong it pays nothing, so when it’s right it deserves no credit. Game-theoretically this is symmetric — we just don’t usually think of it that way.
Conversely, someone posting under a real name and a traceable identity is staking everything he has accumulated on every sentence. Precisely because he can lose, his words are worth something.
That is how “the capacity to bear consequences” constitutes trust: not because you never make mistakes, but because when you do, you can’t run.
This edge will only sharpen in the AI era. Marginal cost of generated content going to zero means “mass output without attribution” becomes an extremely cheap strategy that more and more people will adopt. When costless output floods everything, costly output becomes the only filter left.
So my call is: over the next few years, “this was built by so-and-so, he dared to sign it, and he can’t run” will be worth far more than it is today. Not because people suddenly care more about character — because it’s one of the few signals that hasn’t been inflated away yet.
Three uncomfortable things that must be said plainly
At this point the essay could easily slide into inspiration-poster territory — “who you are matters more than what you do,” “the long game always wins.” I resent that genre, because it omits every cost.
So this section is only about costs. Three properties, all uncomfortable, each of which will concretely affect your decisions.
It’s slow enough to look like no return at all
Reputation’s payoff curve is nearly flat at the start.

The problem isn’t the slowness. Slow is bearable, as long as you know it’s moving. The problem is that this layer has no reliable intermediate metrics whatsoever.
The fourth layer has speed to watch, the third has output quality, the second at least has views and subscriber counts — noisy, but genuinely moving numbers. The first layer has nothing. You cannot measure “how many people have started to trust me.” You can only discover, one day, that someone came to you directly, no introduction, to discuss something real — because “I’ve been reading your stuff for a while.”
That feedback is discrete, sparse, and cannot be scheduled. You can’t put it in a weekly report, and you can’t use it to convince yourself “this month there was progress.”
So this layer discourages people in a very particular way: not by making you fail, but by making you doubt that anything is happening at all. Holding on for years inside that doubt takes not patience but something close to stubbornness.
I won’t romanticize this. If your cash flow can’t survive two years, the reputation layer is not where you should be overweight right now. This series is about allocation, not morality. Early on you need things that make money; reputation is the “compounds later” part of the portfolio — get the order backwards and you’ll be out of the game before the compounding arrives.
It’s asymmetric, so it’s an asset and a constraint at once
The second thing matters more, and gets said less:
Reputation takes years to accumulate and one incident to destroy.
The asymmetry has a direct corollary most people miss: reputation isn’t only your asset. It is simultaneously your constraint.
Once you have a balance in this layer, certain moves become unavailable to you. Not because you’re morally superior — because making them wipes the layer’s balance in one shot.
How much does one grift pay? Say it’s a decent sum. But the price is that everyone who knows you, in every future context, updates their default judgment of you. And it’s irreversible — you can’t “grind it back” with subsequent good behavior, because trust updates asymmetrically by nature: positive evidence has to accumulate; negative evidence only takes one instance.
Which implies something fairly brutal: the thicker your reputation, the fewer short-term cash-out options you have.
Some people describe this as “principled people lose out.” I don’t see it that way — this is precisely the pricing mechanism that makes it an asset: it’s valuable exactly because holding it restricts the holder’s action space. An unconstrained person’s promises are worthless, because he can default at any moment at no cost. The constraint is the collateral.
So if you decide to work this layer seriously, think through in advance which ways of making money you are giving up. Write that list before the money exists, because when the check is sitting in front of you, thinking clearly is much harder.
This is also my one reservation about “building in public.” When it gets recommended, only the upside gets mentioned — audience growth, trust growth, free marketing. Its true meaning is: you are publishing your failures too, and failures usually travel faster than successes. The EnrichLead case above is a complete demonstration of the mechanism. Either accept the symmetry or don’t build in public — the worst position is wanting only half of it.
It can’t be cashed out directly, and trying destroys it
The third thing is the easiest one to violate.
Reputation cannot be monetized directly. Any form of “converting trust straight into money” burns down the balance.
This isn’t a value judgment; it’s mechanical. Reputation exists because people believe “your recommendations come from your judgment, not your interests.” The moment that premise breaks — even the moment it’s merely suspected of breaking — the layer stops functioning. You recommend something, and people’s first reaction shifts from “why does he think that” to “how much was he paid” — and your recommendation is no longer a signal.
So the correct use of reputation isn’t monetization. It’s lowering the friction cost of the other three layers.
Concretely:
- For the distribution layer: your next piece doesn’t cold-start from zero. Same content, but people share it, read it carefully, reply. That isn’t traffic — it’s initial velocity.
- For the judgment layer: you get honest feedback. This is badly underrated — most people can’t get the truth, not because nobody’s willing to say it, but because telling the truth to a stranger costs too much. Trust lowers exactly that cost. And honest input is what the judgment layer is most starved of.
- For the production layer: you get help faster. A technical question asked in a public channel versus asked directly of the person who actually knows — the efficiency differs by an order of magnitude, and the latter requires a relationship.
See the pattern? Reputation’s returns all arrive as lowered costs, never as increased revenue. Which is exactly why it’s invisible on every financial statement and every dashboard — it produces no revenue line, it just makes every other line cheaper.
And precisely because of that, it is exceptionally easy to misjudge as “useless.”
Wiring the four layers into one thing
Now for where this series actually lands.
The previous four essays took apart four layers, but if what you walked away with is “I should work hard at four separate things,” this series failed. Because most people’s problem was never a weak layer.
I wrote one sentence in the overview that I now need to unpack: I’ve seen too many technically excellent people stuck in the exact same place — layer four absurdly strong, layer one clearly there but never deliberately worked, layer two growing entirely on its own. Three things with no plumbing between them.
That’s not a capability problem. It’s an architecture problem.
The distinction matters. The fix for a capability problem is “try harder.” The fix for an architecture problem is “rewire.” And rewiring usually needs no extra investment — it just needs the things already happening to start feeding each other.
The current shape: three parallel lines
Most people’s actual state looks like this:

Three lines running independently, none feeding another. The result: a lot built, nothing kept.
Here’s a set of numbers that shows the most direct consequence of this “no plumbing” state. Someone analyzed 937 Stripe-verified products on Indie Hackers: over 54% had zero revenue, and roughly 5% cleared about $8,333 in monthly revenue. And the dataset itself carries heavy survivorship bias — it only counts makers willing to publicly connect revenue verification; the true distribution can only be worse.
These numbers usually get used to talk people out of trying. I read them differently: if the success rate of a single product is that low to begin with, then betting everything on “this one product” is the wrong strategy. What you need is a structure where even if 95% of your products fail, the failures are still depositing something for whatever comes next.
Pieter Levels is the best available specimen of that structure. He has said in his own tweets, roughly: of the 70-plus projects he’s built, only 4 made money and took off; over 95% of everything he ever did failed; his hit rate is about 5%.
Notice — his hit rate matches the statistic above almost exactly. He is not better at picking projects than anyone else.
Then there’s fly.pieter.com: $1M ARR in 17 days from a standing start — $87,000 in monthly recurring revenue, mostly from in-game ad placements. The prototype took about 3 hours with Cursor + Claude + Grok 3.
That case has been cited endlessly, almost always as proof of “how powerful AI is.” I think that reading is completely wrong.
The 3-hour prototype is layer four. The 17 days to $1M ARR is layer two and layer one.
The same tools sit in front of millions of people today; anyone can produce a working prototype in 3 hours. What they can’t produce is the stretch after — which requires a crowd already waiting to look the minute the thing ships, requires that crowd defaulting to “things this person makes are worth clicking,” requires advertisers willing to put money on something days old — and the precondition for that willingness is that they know who he is.
None of that happened during the 17 days. It happened during the years he built in public, publicly owned the 95% failure rate, and left every failure standing where it fell.
Put differently: what gave him that speed wasn’t the tooling. It was that he had converted all 70-plus prior projects — including the 66 failures — into layer-one and layer-two balance.
That is what the loop is worth.

Let me spell out the loop’s four interfaces concretely, otherwise it stays a diagram.
Interface one: production → distribution (delivery is the material)
The rule: material must be produced during production, never backfilled afterward.
That’s the only hard part of this interface. “Write a retrospective after shipping” almost never happens — the moment you finish, you’re spent, and the next idea is already knocking. So embed the capture into the process: when you make a decision, jot why you chose that way; when you hit a pit, grab a screenshot; when you change the plan, note the reason in one line.
None of this needs to be written up as articles. It’s raw material. If the material exists, an article can exist any time; if it doesn’t, no amount of later effort produces more than a smooth but hollow version — and hollow is something readers can smell.
Interface two: distribution → reputation (consistency converts attention into trust)
This is the slowest segment of the entire loop, and the only one that cannot be accelerated. Between “people watch you” and “people believe you” sits exactly one thing: repetition over time. Same voice, same standard of judgment, said many times, and standing up to anyone who scrolls back to check.
The single operating point here was covered above: optimize consistency, not frequency. If you must choose, publish less — never publish something that fights the fifty pieces before it.
Interface three: reputation → judgment (trust buys you the truth)
This segment is the most overlooked, and I’d argue the highest-value of the four.
What the judgment layer lacks was never methodology — it’s input. When you judge wrong, it’s usually not because you’re dumb; it’s because the information in your hands was pre-filtered. Nobody volunteers “this thing you made is useless” to a stranger — the cost is high and the payoff is zero.
Trust lowers that cost. When someone believes you’ll take their feedback seriously and won’t hold a grudge over being contradicted, they become willing to say the true thing. How much truth you can hear directly sets the ceiling on your judgment quality.
Interface four: reputation → production (cheaper cold starts)
The last segment is where the loop actually closes.
Your Nth product starts from the audience and credibility deposited by the previous N-1. People show up on launch day, real feedback arrives in week one, and asking for help doesn’t require an introduction first.
Levels’ 17 days are the extreme demonstration of this interface.
Why the loop itself is the thing that compounds
Now for the sentence I most wanted this series to deliver.
At the start of the series I planted a claim: what you need is something that “makes money early, compounds later.” Four essays in, many readers will assume the compounding thing is one of the layers — the audience, say, or the reputation.
It isn’t.
The compounding thing is the loop itself.
Here’s the reasoning. Revenue from a single product is linear, and catchable: it has a ceiling, and worse, anyone who sees it making money can build a decent substitute in an afternoon with the same tools. In a world where production cost goes to zero, every single product’s moat is getting shallower, fast.
The loop is different. The loop’s output is a function of accumulated balance: the more laps you run, the cheaper each lap’s cold start, the more truth you hear, the sharper your judgment, the richer your material. It isn’t addition — it’s multiplication.
And — this is the key — the loop cannot be copied. Someone can clone your product in an afternoon, but they cannot clone the loop you’ve been running for three years, because every cell in that loop stores time.
So the real relationship between the four layers isn’t “which layer matters most.” It’s:
The top three layers decide how fast each lap goes. The first layer decides how many laps you get to run.
Layer four gives you speed, layer three keeps you pointed in the right direction, layer two gets each lap’s output seen. And layer one is the only thing deciding whether you can keep running at all — because it’s the only balance that doesn’t reset to zero when you stop.
A person with only layer four is fast, but every lap starts from the origin. A person with all four layers wired may run a little slower — but his origin keeps moving forward.
Run long enough, and the second person wins. Not narrowly — they’re not even in the same order of magnitude.

Five essays done. I want to say the opening line one more time, but in different words.
The overview ended with: you can’t win on gear anymore — you can only win on yourself.
Writing this essay, I found a layer of meaning in that sentence I hadn’t thought through at the time.
“On yourself” sounds like it’s about capability — you need to be smarter, more capable, better taste. But writing the reputation layer, I realized it was never about capability. It’s about presence.
Tools can do more and more for you: write code, write essays, design, run analysis, even think on your behalf. But there’s one thing they cannot do — they cannot be present for you.
They can’t stay in one project for three years on your behalf, can’t genuinely hurt because you botched something, can’t keep writing the same subject while everyone else chases the new thing. And trust is precisely other people’s ledger of those moments of presence.
Dan Shipper’s line keeps growing on me past its agent-ops origins: the farther an agent sits from the person who truly cares about it, the worse it works. Read in reverse: in a system where everything can be automated, the one thing that can’t be automated is “someone cares.” And caring requires a specific person, standing in a specific place, carrying specific consequences.
That is the entire content of the first layer. Not tactics, not growth ops, not a personal-brand methodology. Just standing in one place long enough that others get the chance to verify you, over and over.
I know this conclusion delivers no dopamine. It can’t be packaged into a list, can’t be dropped into a toolbox, can’t be compressed into one afternoon. It can’t even prove it’s working — you only find out much later, indirectly, from some stranger’s “I’ve been reading your stuff for a while.”
But for exactly that reason, it’s one of the few things in this world being thoroughly rewritten that has not itself been rewritten.
Models will keep getting stronger, tools will keep getting cheaper, and today’s moat is next year’s baseline. All of that will happen, faster than we expect.
Underneath all of it, one thing hasn’t changed in price — a person willing to put his name on what he builds, and to stay where he stands.
